Easy DIY Installation — 4 Simple Steps

STEP 01

Prepare the Area

Mark out your fixing positions using the measurements from your order. Ensure the surface is level and structurally sound.

STEP 02

Fix the Channel

Secure the aluminium base channel to your floor or wall using the fixings provided. Check alignment with a spirit level.

STEP 03

Insert the Glass

Carefully place each toughened glass panel into the channel. Wedge and seal according to the guide.

STEP 04

Attach the Handrail

Clip or fix the handrail onto the glass (handrailed systems). For frameless kits, apply the final seals and end caps.

Frequently Asked Questions About Balustrade Kits

No. You can install a Balconette kit with standard household tools — a power drill, spirit level, tape measure, rubber mallet and a sealant gun. We include all specialist fixings, brackets and seals in the kit itself. There is no need for welding, specialist glass-cutting or any other trade-specific equipment.
Most of the installation can be completed solo. However, we recommend having a second person available when lifting and positioning the glass panels, as they can be heavy. Our step-by-step guide is written for a single competent DIYer, and our technical team is available by telephone or video call if you need guidance at any point during the process.
A typical straight run of 3 to 5 metres can be installed in half a day to a full day, depending on your experience and the mounting surface. Preparation — marking out and drilling — takes the most time. Once the channel is fixed, inserting the glass and attaching the handrail is relatively quick.
We strongly recommend double-checking all measurements before placing your order, and our team is happy to review them with you over the phone. If you do make an error, replacement panels can be manufactured, though this will incur additional cost and lead time.
